Need Headset Help

I looked through the forums and found a few topics on this but they were older and I know how fast technology changes so my apologies if I duplicate a former post.

I will not be on TS for a bit, as my lovely German Shepherd pup apparently decided that my headset cord made a nice chew toy.  I need to replace them, but I have a few items that I need to take into consideration.  One, unfortunately, has to be price.  Until I get healed and back to work I am on an incredibly strict budget.  The other is durability as I am a big guy.  That being said, any recommendations for ones that I should try or any I should specifically avoid?

I find buying a cheap set of logitech about £15 works fine and if get broken can easily and cheaply be replaced. I have a head set but only use the mic on it and all sound goes through my speakers

Well if you're after a low price, check out these ones: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=114&cp_id=11401&cs_id=1140103&p_id=10163&seq=1&format=2

I figure I've spent about $1500 at monoprice over the years (mostly on cables and cabling parts), and I've always been quite satisfied. I've only purchased a few pieces of hardware. Not he best, but I as still happy with them. Plus their customer support is outstanding.

Don't you have a problem with the mic picking up game sounds, though, and getting a bad echo?  I always had this problem with a freestanding mic, that's why I went to the headset/mic combo.  That, and the directional aspect of sounds helps in combat so I can tell which way shots come from.

I have surround sound system so I still get the directional. But as for picking up game sounds I don't have it too loud and no issue with echo

Couple of links....Newegg and Mwave..tons to choose from.  Im also using Logitech brand (not sure of the model #) but were in the $40 range and work great. Click on the price marker on the left hand side of the screen to see what you get for that price on Mwave site.
