this portal feature sound like it could be very powerful and could create some great opportunities.
Everyone should start thinking of events and even server modes, I'm guessing stuff like crouch only will be available but might not work with the maps etc so don't build your hopes up. but it sounds like with a lot of work we might even be able to create our own game modes which could be cool (if someone works out how to do prop hunt i would be amazed but only time will tell)

I'm hoping the portal stuff is available before release so at least i can have a look around and see how much power it will provide.
