Why would they (IW) cut their own throats? This is more than unbelievable. I will not buy the game!

I signed the petition...35,614 or something like that. At that number, if everyone refuses to buy and cancels their pre-orders, it's a potential loss of $1,680,700.00. That's right One Million, Six Hundred Eighty Thousand, Seven Hundred dollars to Infinity Ward, and IWNet. Not to mention the production costs of all the pre-orders and general sales.

This information leaking out so close to release date shows you their true nature. The fact of the matter is we do not have as much power as we think...1 and 3/4 Mil is a drop in the bucket when Microsoft is trying to capture the gaming market. It couldn't really work out better for Microsoft if the PC gaming market was totally cut out...imagine their glee...boosted console sales...pay per download contents...its a win win for Microsoft who has billions to back a hostile push-out of the PC gaming market.

Footnote:
With the Microsoft OS NOT supporting gaming in-general, does this really come as a surprise to you?

They have announced that PC gamers will now have to pay per downloads for patches and new maps.

Well...I don't really think they care if PC buys it or not...it's not their agenda. Their agenda seems to be console and make the PC mimic the console as to cut down on costs,  prioritize profits and be a pawn to Microsoft's agenda. Their lack of details and PC requirements at such a close date of release makes me suspect. I did not pre order, so I am good not to buy it.

I won't be buying the game because there will be no "community" for it. As it stands now, it's "play our way or NO way"!
I choose NO WAY.

I remember the early days of Americas Army...you played on their servers only or, you started one on your own computer and invited your friends.

you need a hug Strandy?  Cool

Yay for not preordering... can't they see what is happening to Dragon Rising? Great gameplay, but terrible multiplayer. And it's a lot to do with no dedicated servers. If they want to go that way and ruin a franchise then oh well... guess we have to look forward to Borderlands more right, Mojo?

Yea I wont be purchasing until they have dedicated servers whats the point!?   If I wanted a dumbed down console game I would buy a console (waste of money) its bad enough they adopted designing for console THEN port console to PC with retarded control options or total lack thereof.  I might take another look at Flashpoint if they follow thru with the dedicated server patch in the meantime its going to be a Borderlands marathon.

The only reason most ppl play PC IMHO is because they have the option of playing where they want in a comfortable moderated environment ...I dont care if someone is better than me I just want to play with people having fun. And random matchups never lead to  playing equals. . . . . . just morons!

I have never played ANY multiplayer game more than a few weeks if the dedicated server option wasnt available for me to find like minded players and NOT just random morons PERIOD!

Infinity Ward has allowed the petition post back in the forums with 97,481 sigs.  If these people will not buy based on no dedicated server and mod tools it would be a 5,848,860 loss to infinity ward.  Yet I am sure some have signed more than once.  There is a note in the forum that this info has been sent to the IT department.  Yet un-confirmed.

I've noticed places like Walmart and Amazonhave started to offer gift cards or credits with the purchase of MW:2.  Misguided damage control maybe?

I got this review from IGN this morning.  A review by two guys that don't like to play on line...? Anyway check it out, it's interesting enough with quotes like "I'd played all the previous COD games on PC as well, and I really enjoyed them, but the MW single-player campaign on 360 was honestly perhaps the best 10 hours of gaming I've ever had."  Time will tell if reviewers will push the console over PC or rave how the new match system is wonderful after all of the PC guys made such a stink. Here is the article. http://pc.ign.com/articles/103/1036711p1.html
