I am looking to upgrade my rig. This is what looks best for my budget. Any suggestions? I would even take suggestions moving to a more expensive piece if it is within reason. Thanks for looking!

With that chip set I would go with an AMD (ATI) video card.  I have been running the 1090 at 4gb for some time with out problems.  I would invest in a aftermarket sink/fan if you going to O/C.

So a Radeon 6950 would be better because it is an AMD chip?

Only if you ever wish to run an additional video card down the road.. That mobo supports AMDs' Crossfire, but not Nvidias' SLI technologies.  Running and Nvidia card on and AMD chip will be fine, as would running  an AMD card on an Nvidia chipset. I've done both without issues. Though with a single 6950, you can quite easily run three screens.

Yes, definitely get an after-market cooler. Those CPUs overclock fairly well, and it's quite easy. If you want a cheap one, the Freezer 64  line by Arctic Cooling works pretty well, and they're only 25 bucks or so.

Though now that the Bulldozer CPUs are out, you may want to have a gander at them.

I would hold out a week or two before deciding like I am, to see reviews and bench marks on the new FX line from AMD since the benchmarks seem to be very limited and biased/deceiving so far.
