Two years ago BK sent a kid to camp by raising $200. Last year we raised over $2,000 for BK members who lost their homes to tornadoes. This year I would like to send games to kids in hospitals by supporting Child’s Play.

About Child’s Play from their website:

Since 2003, we’ve set up and organized Child’s Play, a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in our network of over 70 hospitals worldwide. Over the years, you as a community have answered the call and come together to raise millions of dollars.

Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids. By clicking on a hospital location on our map, you can view that hospital’s wish list and send a gift.

Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.

If you were planning give an extra donation this month I ask you send it to child’s play threw the button on the left. It will track how many donations come from BK. (It is not instant only updates once a day I believe.) Let’s help some kids in hospitals make the time more enjoyable.

We will do this threw something called Mario Marathon. They play Mario games to raise money the more they raised the more levels of Mario they play. Last year they raised 112,000+ for Childs Play. All money donated there goes to Child’s Play.

Lets see if we can raise $500 from BK to help kids in need!

Dear BK Family;
Twenty years ago one of my sons was badly burned as the result of a fire. He survived and over time fully recovered with the exception of some scarring on the lower portion of his body. He was thirteen years old at the time. He (and I) literally lived in a small hospital room for months as he went under multiple surgeries. As with many other children in that burn ward, he had to remain in total isolation for much of his stay due to the incredibly high chance of infection. There wasn`t (at that time) much in the way of entertainment for any of those children; only TV. Even a small gift of a few dollars from YOU will go a very VERY long way to easing the circumstances of some child.
Thanx for listening all,
Dust
* and no, I don`t wish to talk about this.
I can`t.

Hey Dustbuhny, thanks for sharing a painful experience as a testimonial to the cause, it’s appreciated and understood.

As to why someone would post a critical response to this cause for another cause is rather perplexing unless of course, the person posting it feels it’s undeserving or a “cheap shot” to ridicule. If there is another worthy cause then it deserves its own proper post.

Hero’s come in all sizes and shapes. Facing the realities of what life may throw at us requires great courage to overcome and a little help never hurts.
Although there are many great causes for people of all walks of life that need assistance it takes someone to start the process in an organization like BK.

It’s called LEADERSHIP! Thanks GOA Luke for your leadership and taking up the cause!

We are almost half way to our $500 goal. Lets see if we can get over $250 by the end of the month! Every dollar you donate goes straight to Child's Play to help them buy toys for kids in Hospitals.

We need about $150 more to meet our goal. Can you help with even $5?
