It's your computer, rejecting Windows 8. Listen to it, Dan.

Your crash report should (hopefully) show what file is responsible, and give you a stop or error code or address. Not sure about 8, but in 7, if you turn off teh Error Reporting service, your program errors tend to be more detailed.

Since you made the statement that the program worked while Vista, that would kind of makes me think that when you have W8 installed, the drivers you have for your CPU is maybe an inbox driver and not the manufactures driver.  See if you can find an up to date driver for everything.  And personally I wouldnt rely on the drivers that are given by the Microsoft updates.  That things are usually pretty out of date.

First, THANK YOU all of BK who replied to me with suggestions; you are one of the few group of people who would understand my frustration.  I appreciate you very much.

My problem has been resolved, I am fairly confident.  This is going to sound strange, but this is how I fixed the problem of the box popping up saying:  Battlefield 4 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." with both Black Ops 2 and Battlefield 4:

I tried to restart the CPU in Vista instead of Win8, but while trying to get Vista to bootup, I had to run the repair tool three times before it found nothing to fix.  Oddly Vista NEVER actually booted up, but I went back to Win8 and I just finished my first full match in Battlefield 4 in three days, but then I got the audio freeze just before the second map was done...ugh!

Before going to bed last night I was able to do a complete game in Black Ops 2 and this morning 2 complete matches in Battlefield 4...very odd.

But I think, for now, my days in FPS purgatory are over.
