I wouldn't recommend buying vista, windows 7 will be released in the fall, if you hold off for those few months, you can make a significantly better system for around the same cost.

I agree get windows 7 if you can wait. don't forget a good mouse, keyboard, sound card., headset, monitor and printer is optional. Good luck. If you need any help just let us know. That is except for helping pay for it. The heat sink usually comes with arctic silver compound already applied. It is good, regardless, to spend 5 bucks for a tube of it and reapply at least 2ce a year.

I have to agree , I would wait for Win7.  If you already have an os you can install  that and wait.  Or you can install Win7 RC and then get the oem version when it comes out.

I don't think that processor will work with that motherboard.  The motherboard is an X58, 1366 socket (which is a very good board) but the processor is a 775 socket.  You need a i7 processor for that board.  A 920 would work nicely.

What sound card are you going to use?

is this a better processor??  its only an 8mb L3 an not a 12 but will it make that much of a difference?
