#1: LESSON LEARNED... New Computer Build Author: BoltActionLocation: Albany, NewYork PostPosted: Tue Mar 24, 2015 1:14 pm

Well folks I have been wrestling with computer issues for over a  month now. It all started with my 1st attempt at SLI with old rig, fried the MOBO , ordered new "old " intel x58 mobo, rebuilt old comp WITH  OLD  Power supply  and got it working (although it is a downgrade from orig a bit).. Meanwhile.....while waiting for the old parts I decided to build a new rig in order to play HARDLINE and (hopefully) WAW 2 , which is rumored to be coming out this fall.  ALL MY TROUBLES STARTED WITH ORDERING A CHEAP 1000 WATT  COOLMAX ZU 1000 WATT POWER SUPPLY for 90 bucks. It fried my OLD MOBO and wouldnt POST my new build (I got lucky it didn't fry my new mobo) . The only reason I know is because I HAD THE SAME  INABILITY to POST problem WITH BOTH Computers using the junky Coolmax PSU . After spending hours and hours reading WAAAAAY more forums than I ever expected, I ordered a decent 1050 watt Thermaltake  GOLD Toughpower Grand PSU ($185.00) and all is well. Lesson learned: DON'T GET CHEAP WITH THE PSU!  I am a novice computer builder , but certainly have learned a LOT from this personal  building fiasco....

p.s., I appreciate the help Johnny with the new build BTW :)

p.s.s. Be gentle with the comments guys, I am amazed that this non geek computer building  noob was able to fix the old comp AND build the new one  Cool
