I am getting messages in my router log that there is a lot of incomming access attempts to a certain machine. The imcomming IP's are always different but they are all trying to acces a specific ip and port. The ip address are internal ip, not my router ip.

I blocked that port, 40870, to see if this stops, but not sure what actually uses that port. Was not able to find anything on this specific port.

Here is a sample:
[LAN access from remote] from 75.129.13.149:38276 to 192.168.1.8:40870, Saturday, Aug 01,2015 22:34:36

Do I need to worry about this?

Did a google search for you Moosehead using the words in the bracketts. It could be from Xbox, Torrent or Skype. Try their suggestions and see what happens. General belief is no harm is being done to your pc.

Thought that skype might be the culprit. Couldnt find anything about that specific port though. I had it narrowed down to a specific pc. Th rebooted the router and it assigned a new ip to the pc. Kept getting the same message to the new ip.

What had me wondering was the incomming was from a completely different IP every time.

The log reported "LAN access" but what it doesnt say if it was succesfull or not.

Thanks

I'm no expert Moosehead but I've found over the years as long as you have changed the default username of ADMIN and create a strong password for your router no body can get in to your PC unless you let them by way of an email attachment, downloads from un-trustworthy websites etc.
