I'd like to take a moment to remember all those who have served in their countries Armed Forces, and especially to those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom and way of life.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Today marks the anniversary of the end of WW1. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month people in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Britain and other Allied countries stop what they are doing  and observe a minute silence. This is the anniversary of when the guns stopped firing in 1918 which signaled the end to fighting. This day used to be called Armistice Day and people used to hold two minute silence. Now the one minute silence is to remember the dead from all wars. I ask BK members to hold this one minute silence for all the fallen soldiers of all wars past and present.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

In Canada we still observe a two minute silence to remember and honor our soldiers past and present and those who made the greatest of sacrifices with their lives. We had record numbers of people turn out for the service and it was standing room only in the Moncton coliseum with every last seat filled and many standing in the areas behind the seating.
