Now that we have enough people playing we need to represent our name.

Our options are simple: -BK- or just "BK" at the end of our names.

And the reason we have to use "-" is because the * is not available.

Also i will be using the Clan Tag part for rank until we figure out what we are gonna do.

And how you change your name:

REMEMBER TO COPY YOUR PROFILE AND SAVE IT BEFORE MESSING WITH IT!!!!

Hi All: MY FIRST POST ON YOUR GRACIOUS BOARD!
A few of us have been playing on a tactical site - RBN - 8.6.3.64:28960 and having a great time. Good people, fun and they admin the server and ban so be sure to follow the rules. Also got the following from their board.
Lots of people lose rank for no reason, so BACKUP often.
Be careful with these instructions, you can lose your rank if you make a mistake.

This can also be used to change your name without losing your rank.

Where the files are located:

Assuming your Windows user name is William, and your player name is BillyTheKid

WinXP
C:\Documents and Settings\William\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles\BillyTheKid

Vista
C:\Users\William\App Data\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles\BillyTheKid

These three files are the important ones.

config.cfg
config_mp.cfg
mpdata

If you play single player, there is also a folder called save with your savegames (optional).

To backup your profile:
1) Exit the game.
2) Back up these three files to a separate folder, keep multiple copies if necessary.

To change your name and keep your rank.

1) Back up your files (above).

2) In game, create a new profile with your new name.

3) Once step 2 is complete, exit the game.
Copy the three important files from your CURRENT profile to your NEW one.
You will overwrite the ones there already.
If you do this backwards, you will erase your current rank, and unless you followed Step 1, you are out of luck.

4) Rejoice! Now you have two profiles with the same rank, and two different names.

5) Delete the old profile (only if you want to, you don't have to).

It may be usefull to you all.
Best regards,
KestrelHawk[ÐÐ]

I have a question:

There is no Activision folder in my Application Data, and COD4 kept the players under Program Files, so where might I find COD5's profiles?

I have been meaning to change my name before I get too far in to it because the one I post here under was already taken.  I set up a quick profile just for testing purposes.

Hey guys wear your tags as -BK- if you ever cant use the *BK* the default is always -BK-. Its important that we all use the same tags so we can easily be identified as being a part of *BK*.

Can anyone tell me yet why video game makers keep banning the use of the *? All major games have started to do that.

* is not being allowed because it has is used exclusively in coding. The game can see this as coding and alter the play format is the explanation I was given. Apparently hexed letters a re the same thing.

here is another way to back up the files just follow the directions.  I have lost my files 4 times already........Download the Tool here. http://files.filefront.com/COD5+profile+backupzip/;12360706;/fileinfo.html

Unzip the file and read the attached 'Read-Me' file. It's a very simple procedure.

There are still people without the proper tags in CoD5. You have FIVE days to fix them before you are called out.

We ARE NOT using the clan tag box.

For those that complained about having to take the time to copy and paste your profile and reinvite friends. everyone else did so you have to also.

After five days if your tags are not matching the rest of the clans you will not be allowed to wear your tags on Teamspeak.

This is happening because people want us to crack down on those who are being lazy.

Salute BK,
Sorry out of touch aliitle but to the post that KestrelHawk[ÐÐ] made,
it is easy but you must go to your documents open,
go to toolbar,
go to tools,
go to folder options,
go to view tab,
Look for a folder hidden files(sec folder down),
have to click show hidden file and folders and apply,
now close out to desk top,
now go into your hard drive C: (for most of us),
go into Documents and settings,
look for your main user file (not your default file) would have the owners name on it,
open it go to Local settings its a ("ghost file" see thru).
When you open this file the first folder would be your Application Data folder" its a ghost folder"(see thru),
open it, your Activision file (is for the most part) the first file open it looke for your CODWAW file and now follow KestrelHawk[ÐÐ] instructions on copy and paste. Hope this helps you all out
