(PhysOrg.com) -- With the increasing high volume content over the internet, such as multimedia and high definition images, new transmission methods need to be found to handle the increasing data demand. Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp (NTT) have successfully demonstrated an ultra-high capacity optical transmission of 69.1 terabits per second over a single 240 km long optical fiber.

For now it sure is but cable internet was also in the 90s.

yeah personally i think what needs to happen before we get super fast internet is we need to reach the ppl in the country with internet that is fast like fiber optic and cheap! for me to have fast internet which would be through comcast is about 1,000 dollars because they have to lay cables. Seriously if we can get 69.1 terabits then why cant we get 10 20 mb internet for less then at least 500$ i only live about 4 miles from a fiber optic line for wild blue i think, and they wont even be expanded for another 2 years i think.

haha sorry i didnt mean to rant its just sad that we cant get coverage in rural areas.
