It appears that something had changed recently with iTunes. I used to be able to convert DVD's to either MP4 or M4V format and load them on to iTunes. I lost my system and had to reload everything. Now it seems that iTunes only sees some files and not others. Anyone year anything on this or any way to fix it. I've thrown down some "google-fu" looking for an answer with no luck.

are all the files still in the exact same locations that they were before? I know that itunes will only look in certain places for the files. just a thought

By default, iTunes searches files on first install. But if you have a new file/folder you want to load you have point it to the location. This is what I have down in the past and what I did when I reinstalled iTunes on my new system. Problem is that iTunes sees some files but not others and Im not sure why. Thanks for the thought.

What's different about the files that iTunes can't see? Were they created before/after a certain time compared to the ones that can be seen, or were they imported in a different way - or set to manage manually? Sounds like iTunes isn't indexing properly, so could you move some of these files to a new directory and get iTunes to scan again? Just a suggestion.

Update:

I spoke with a tier one tech at apple and its it was scripts vill until I pretty close had to yell at him telling him I know a thing or two about computers.

Here are all the variables:
Win7 64 Ultimate - 64 bit iTunes
Two drivers, 1.) 160GB SSD w/ OS 2.) 1.5TB HDD for files and programs(including ITunes)
MP4/M4V are being create with CloneDVD Mobile from Slysoft using DVD files I have saved on my HDD.
ITunes version: 10.1.1

Now here is what Im thinking. 10.1.1 is the newest version. On one of my laptops I have 10.0.1 and there is no issue. I think Apple is going to try to lock out all content that was not downloaded from them, in hopes to tighten up the leash they have on the apple users. And before anyone starts, I know apple has an issue and I wanna know when they decided to do this.
