Okay after talking to several of the guys I have changed my mind and am actually going away from intel and asus. So now that I am venturing into unknown territory I am gonna post what I am looking at getting. For those of you with a technical bent please take a look and see if it looks good as well as I haven't missed something conflicts or wont work together. For the money I want to spend this works as well as allow me to upgrade to say 2 vid cards or maybe a SSD HD down the road.

Almost forgot I am have the Nvidia GTX 460 and an Antec 900 case; only running one card at the moment but may go with 2 at some point. Take a look and see what you think; any input is appreciated.

Why are you switching to AMD?  Simply because of price?

Well I was asking questions this morning about the potential upgrades I was gonna get and was told by several that AMD is actually a better processor for gaming which is basically what my rig is for. I have never actually had an AMD and I liked the suggestion someone made plus the price was pretty good too. So willing to give it a try.

LOOKS GOOD WOLFIE!!!   I love my AMD cpu, has been a work horse at gaming and everything else!  Good choice on the Thermaltake Modular I have the 850W and it has been very consistent and adaptable, plus you don't have all the extra cables in your case to deal with!!  I have not used the XMS3 RAM, but I am a die hard fan of Corsair RAM, so you should be happy with those sticks!  I like WD hard drives, but wonder why you did not pick the RAPTOR or VelociRAPTOR which have faster disk speeds?  I have never used and MSI mobo, so I can not give you feedback there!   Good luck with the build and if you get in a bind putting it all together, please give me a shout!!!

We had a discussion on it the other night and with the 6g/s transfer rate versus the money it was gonna cost me for the vraptor there wasnt gonna be much difference. But it is still something I may look at before I order. I wanted a SSD but still little expensive plus til I am sure they last longer than a year I am not gonna put that money out for one.
