I actually dislike the requirement (of some titles), for gamers to install and run the Steam client, in order to play a game.
Steam is quite a bit more stable now than it used to be, but I don't like it any more than I did before.
I've never used EA's service, so I'll be checking that out when SW:TOR is released.

Steam is 100% fine in my opinion... never had any difficulties, and have bought many games and gotten a mess of crazy awesome deals.

I noticed a few days ago that I couldn't find crysis 2 on steam anymore... I found that rather odd. What happens to all the people who purchased it over steam?

I now only buy games on steam. If you are not on steam it better be something very special to have me even think about it.

Sad to hear but at the same time it seems like typical EA nonsense...

I've been with Steam since it first came out and have yet to ever have a problem with it...

Steam is not the only one who has gamers do this...Games for Windows is another that makes you sign up for something in order to play their game...and there are others as well...

At least Steam listens to the people as well as supporting Indie developers on their projects which have been rather awesome by the way...probably because they're not tainted by the likes of EA or other big companies who only care about $$$...

Plus like Immolation said, they continually run mad sales...on top of that, their advertsising campaigns are some of the best out there...look how Portal 2 launched...Steam offered the Potato Sack which had 10 fun Indie games in it that were sabatoged by GlaDOS giving these games within portions of puzzles or complete new levels based off of Portal 2...

Sad to say but EA is just getting greedier and greedier...by doing this they're just going to eventually fail...

I think the gaming world has seen what a great game BF3 is shaping up to be...

The only problem now, with EA backing out of Steam, is that the release of BF3 may be headed for Origin exclusivity...

As long as I can download the game I purchased as many times as I want, I have no beef with any of these companies.  Steam does have great deals but I do find that DLC for certain games cost more from time to time.
