One of my Sons had a system and OS upgrade at Christmas time, since then he can't play Black Ops MP. He can play the single player but not the multiplayer.
Is Windows8 the issue here? He had Win7 before the upgrade.
I tried copying my BO folder to replace his folder (This usually works) and then we deleted the folder and downloaded it again, no joy +  Confused

Anyone know whats going on ????
Cos i sure don't.
btw. this issue only came to light when i convinced him to join a Shotty Friday 13 June..

On paper, I don't believe there should be any problems.  Does he get errors? Not start at all? Launch, but crash?

Verified game files in Steam? Run the game in Win7 Compatibility mode? i don't recall reading of anyone else not getting Win8 and BO to play nicely.

Does Win 8 have a default firewall that may be blocking ports needed for Multiplayer ?

If you dont see an error message when you try to start the program, open "Computer Management" go to "Event Viewer>Windows Logs>Application"  In there you should see some sort of error.  Save that log and upload it so we can take a look at it.

Without errors we cant try to fix the problem.

As Abram said, there should be an issue, since BO plays on W7, but MS has a weird way about themselves.

Im sure youve tried this already, but its worth a shot.  When he gets ready to start the game, have him right click on the icon and click on "Run as Admin"  Windows 8 is funny about program permissions and doesnt make the standard user an admin but a super user on the system.

YAY thanks guys. he has it going again. He Verified game files in Steam and he is back up and running again.  Very Happy
he still has to reset his mouse speed, sound volume and resolution each time, but its running... and he does not care about doing that and is happy.

Thank again Abram, bigconn and Silent_Wolf.
