I'm not sure where to post this, so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong spot...

Hi everyone...

I have searched and found many posts to pro's and con's of Canned Air vs. Air Compressors.

I would like to know, what most people are using and where they got what they are using. I don't want to use a Vacuum, or canned air. I would like to use an Air Compressor with a filter to help filter out the water molecules. I also understand that an oil free compressor is better..

Any opinions?

Before anyone asks, All I need this for, is to just blow dust out of computer cases..nothing else....

Compressors..   if you have one, can be pressure regulated, and as long as it's turned on, you'll never run out of air...

But if you don't have one or can't afford one, bottles work just fine..  I've used both.  Or you can use a duster and a vacuum cleaner but be gentle.

I use whats available at the time, I keep Canned Air for my keyboard, I prefer to Vacuum Heavy dust as opposed to blow it all over to re-group inside again. But I also have a compressor for my CPU fan, and case. It just Depends on how far between cleanings as to what i use.

Power supply fan? but you have to clean filters once a week? or you live in a negative air environment?

Just get yourself a good case that has the dust filters build in like the Silverstone Raven series or the Nzxt Switch 810.  All are under $200

Air compressors are fantastic so long as you can regular to a moderate pressure, and have one of the dealies that gets rid moisture in the line. Sorry to get technical. I have filters on two of my intake fans, and stretched pantyhose over the other. Be sure to shave your fan first, though.

But prevention is certainly the best thing to do; use filters, keep your case off the floor, and try to keep positive pressure inside your case.

Im sure you already know this, but just gotta put my two cents in.......

First off, I dont know the location on your tower, but the worse thing that anyone can do is keep their chassis on the floor.  Carpet gives more dust particle then anything else in your house and if your tower is on the floor it will pick up alot.

That being said, you can convert most chassis into a filter unit by just buying some light mesh material and with a fashion put it under the face plate of your box....

BUT.....you are still going to get some dust bunnies in there.

So to get rid of what you do get, a compressor is nice because you are going to be able to use the air longer, but depending on the environment you run the risk of exposing your rig to moister and oil collected in the tank.  Even the most advanced oil/water separators doesnt get it all.

I personally like compressed air cans.  It's clean air with low risk of particle damage, oil, water, dirt what not.  The down side to cans is if you spray for too long the can becomes terribly cold and the air will stop spraying due to that.

So theres my 2 cents.
