Yea no doubt; It WAS nvidia's fault so id be calling them 
they may want you to send them the card so they can look at the "black box" if you will of the card.
This allows them to see the driver versions and how overclocked you had the card ( if any )
I had the same issue with nforce a WHILE back it too shut off my fans on my 7800gt ( that tell you how long ago it was lol ) and they sent me a new one no questions asked
