So when it comes down to it EA and DICE are really showing who owns the rights to the servers, and its not the people paying for them....
Basically we have a set guidelines we have to follow if we are to have a rank server. This to me is stupid in whats the point in paying for a server if you cant enforce your own rules! IE say if we wanted to open a shotty server; We couldn't because it would break EA's ROC because it limits players weapons choice.

Yes it dose limit your ability to edit ranked severs. This prevents people form editing servers like in COD W@W where you can end up with 10,000 points per kill on some servers. Or they edit some weapons to make them stronger well other weapons are weaker. You can edit a server all you want as long as you are not ranked. This helps keep the playing field level for all players who are ranking up.

Well i think its just lame that you can do whatever you want with a server you rent lol i mean you can drive a rental car where ever you want when you rent it so why shouldn't we be able to do what we want? ^_^ The only reason i brought this up was a clan was kicking people for using sniper rifles in the server. Well someone complained on the EA forums and basically a lot of people got there stats restarted in that clan

Sucks for them is all i gotta say lol

I think this was a wise move on EA/Dice's part.
A lot of games get ruined, (COD4, Crysis), by overbearing server renters who can not handle playing the game the way it was meant to be played.
This reminds of trying to find a public server in CS:S that allowed the AWP.
They try to enforce stupid constricting rules in an attempt to turn the game in to something they feel is fair cause they lack the skill or willingness to practice in order to get the skill.
At the end of the day their name is on the game not the server renters.
I applaud Dice/EA for this decision

Wow this clears up a lot. I was always a little confused when someone would say "we can't make ppl just use pistols".

The only "Rules" we cant put on the server is the restriction of gun types. Basically anything else is eligible to be a rule. If we had a rule so you cant say the word orange...... you cant say it. EA has put some limitations on the servers but hasn't completely taken away its ability to be "owned" by the server host.

Exactly, saying the word Orange does not effect game play in the least.
Restricting guns and/or gun types greatly modifies the game, which BTW you can do you just go unranked.
