black ops tweaks

Hey all.  First off, you guys run some great servers.  Keep up the good work.  Someone asked for help today due to crashing.  I was looking for the tweaks on your site and didn't see them.  Apologize if I happend to miss it.

note, if you made some of these changes, go back and check.  Patch reset the video card settings for me.

1: config file location
You'll find the config file in your Steam folder (by default "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam”) inside the “steamapps\common\call of duty black ops\players” folder

2: Video Card settings
Open the config_mp.cfg up in Wordpad and scroll down until you find the line:

* seta r_multiGpu “1”

Change the “1” to “0”.

IF, and only if you only have one video card. If you have multiple video cards (SLI mode), setting it to 0 will reduce performance.

3: CPU Settings
Directly underneath it you'll find:

* seta r_multithreaded_device “0”

Change the “0” to “1”.

Again, this is if, and only if you have a multi-core CPU.

4: Network
The main value you need to mess around with is cl_maxpackets, which you should try setting to “100” to see if it makes any difference.  Default is 35.

there are several different ways to find this information.  As a tech mod at Geekstogo.com, we recommend cpu-z.

about / guide:  about cpu-z
download:  .CPU-Z

Install, but beware that it prompts for the install of ask.com toolbar.  Just deselect it and proceed.

once installed, just run.  It will take a min or so to collect the information. On the first tab (cpu) look at the bottom.  It will show you the number of cores you have.  If you build a pc in the last 3 years, it should be multicore.

On the 2nd to last tab (graphics) it will list your video card info.  If it lists only one card, then you only have one.  If it lists more than one, than you have sli or crossfire (multiple graphic cards).

if you still aren't sure about what it says, the "about" tab (last tab) it has an export option.  Just save the report to a location and then copy and paste the contents in a post, attach it a forum post (recommended), or email someone. We can look at it for you

If you dont want to install a program to do this you can also look in your device manager. Go to your control panel then device manager; once its open click on the arrow by processor to open it. It will list an entry for every core you have. Do the same with display driver, it will list a card for every one you have installed.
