DICE has detailed each of the five competitive multiplayer modes in Battlefield 3.
The five modes include Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Rush, Squad Rush and Conquest. Each of the nine multiplayer maps will be playable in all multiplayer modes.
Deathmatch divides players into teams with the goal of reaching a set kill-count before the opposing team. Team Deathmatch will put players into two teams of 12 players while Squad Deathmatch will divide players into four teams of four players.
Rush divides players into two teams, where the attacking team must destroy M-Com stations protected by the defending team. Defending players have infinite respawns but attacking players must destroy M-Com stations to earn more respawns for their team.

Will be hard to put a rotation of gametype if each type count different number of players.

I think the consoles will only support 24 players in TDM from what I have read since the first info release on BF3...but PC will support much more than that of up to 32 players on each team even for Squad Deathmatch it would be 16v16v16v16 or the classic 4v4v4v4!
Hope to see this actually happen or a release from the developers saying this will happen!
