Advice for the Newbie

I have been playing BF4 for a week or so, and I know that it can take awhile to get the hang of a new game.  That being said, though, I am having a devils time trying to get any kills or even staying alive.  I seem to die within seconds of spawning without ever even seeing the person killing me, and it seems like I get killed by getting hit with a few rounds when I can empty a full clip at someone without getting a kill.  Any advice from the experienced players?

Also, what do you have to do to unlock the shotguns?  I want to try to have at least one unlocked for the BF4 Shotgun event coming up.

first of all i think you start with at least one shotgun unlocked, if your having trouble finding it ask any of our members that play bf4 i'm sure they will be happy to help show you have to select the shotgun.

Thanks Mr. T.  I will check out the links.  I did make the last BF4 boot camp, and did get some good tips, but always looking to learn more.

Figured out about the shotgun.  It is unlocked first with the Support kit, I think the 2nd-3rd item to be unlocked.  Working on it now, so here's hoping I can get it done in time.
