Question about migrating to SSD

So I plan on buying a SSD this weekend. Now I'm at work and don't know how much of my hdd at home I'm currently using.
My question is would it be better to just do a fresh install of windows 7, bf3, ts3, etc. And then just move over docs etc from my original drive afterwards.

I have a feeling that my original hdd has too much on it and I don't have a real way to back it up etc. So i'm leaning towards fresh install.

This question has come up a few times and I always give the same basic answer.

My system config.

Drive 1 Intel 300GB SSD (OS, Microsoft and important programs)
Drive 2 MD 1.5TB 7200RPM (everything else including TS, games, and temp shortage)

Home server 7TB (Movies, music, photos and well pretty much anything and everything I want)

SSDs are still little new to the world so the capacity isnt all that good, so my suggestion is load a fresh image on your  SSD and depending on the room you have left, only put on your major program things that you do alot of save with. Your system will boot up faster because of the SSD and what ever program you use from the SSD will do the same.  But if you are looking for the SSD to improve game playing performance, the only thing it will do is help it load a little faster.

Beyond that, have fun and enjoy your new equipment.

well I'll have to think about stuff lol. Maybe I'll stick with my plan before, upgrading my 5770 to a 560 ti, and getting a new gaming mouse, considering my g5 is older than BF2.

Specs:
i7-950 3.06ghz
12gb ddr3
1tb hdd
dvd-rw
was 2x hd5770s in xfire but they overheated due to lack of room, no ducts, etc. so one died, so one hd5770

not a bad rig, but I bought a package comp from tigerdirect first and last time I do that. Plan on building a new pc soon so just trying to get a feeler out for what I want., who knows, maybe I'll turn this one into an xbmc or something

Wat,

SSD is a big performance upgrade. It is worth it. Windows boots up in mere seconds, sometimes I still reboot just to show my friends how fast it is.
To take full advantage of it, a new install is a must.
Get a large enough one for BF3 and put other rnon-essential stuff on the 1tb HD.

If you need immediate gaming performance improvement, the video card is best option. 560 Ti is a great card and pretty cheap now.

Get the card, then plan an upgrade to include SSD in new rig
