Hi BK! I love your COD 5 server and have been playing it for a while now (multiple years). You guys have always been awesome.
Up until a month or so ago my ping was always consistent 40-45. No doubt this caused fuss with other players sometimes lol.
Then I logged on one day and saw my ping sitting between 79-90...after playing for a few minutes it would change to 90-110, with a lot of fluctuations.
Now, I play several online games and shooters. Notably Black Ops, BF4, and other WaW servers. None of which am I seeing a significant change in ping like this.
So I am here wondering what's going on with your COD 5 server and me?? PM me if you are a BK member and have any answers or suggestions! I am just confused over this! Thanks all.

My ping the last few days was really bad on the BF4 servers, not just ours.  I was fluctuating anywhere from 70-400 for ping.  I finally had to unplug my modem for a minute, let it force-reset, then plug it in again.  This fixed it right up.  You might try this if you haven't done it in awhile.  Pull the power plug and the line from your modem, let it sit for 30 seconds to a minute to wipe the memory.  When you plug it back in it will seek the IP and everything fresh and can improve performance.

That was the first thing I tried. It didn't help.
Then I went on other servers on WaW and other games to see what my ping was.
All checked out the same - no change. Even on your BF4 server my ping was/is still around 45-48 like always.
It's the BK COD 5 server only. A modest ping increase of 50 or so wouldn't be a big deal. It's the
way it now fluctuates anywhere from 75-115 throughout a round. One round it will go from 75-85 up and down,
the next round I'll be at 95-115, never holding steady. Doesn't make sense, especially when it's the only server
that this happens on.

This could be caused by any number of thing from ur antivirus/firewall updates or a bad node between you computer and the game server to even the game server it self I suggest doing a trace ping to see if it's a bottleneck or bad node between you and the server. But still 115 not as bad as mine

Just for info I pretty much only play WaW and my ping is and has been stable usually around 60. There was some problem not long ago where our server was a bit whacked and all had ping flux. Been working fine though now and recent past. Hope you get it figured out.

Thank you astro for that. And thanks to you guys for replying and offering help.
I will try out the suggestions! Heck, it could be Steam as well...I may dig up my old install discs and see what happens running it without Steam.
