Finally settled on a motherboard - SABERTOOTH Z87

Z87 is a good board but if you are starting from scratch, why not go with the most current technology? the New Z97 boards are not that much different in price and you will be able to upgrade it with the newer technology. (SATA express and M.2.)
I am a big fan of ASUS, no problems with my Maximus Formula VI.

Hey Karma, what processor are you looking at? I usually start a new build by selecting the processor, mobo and vid card in that order. For the cost of a new motherboard you are definitely better off going all out and get the latest. Room to upgrade is the key for sure.

whats ur budget and what are you using your computer for besides gaming? i dont think u need to spend that much money on a saber tooth motherboard. your are better off spending it on a good vid card.
I5 4670 cpu (get the k model if you want to overclock)

Get those and you'll be good to go . Also i suggest a ssd drive.
Currently sata express and M.2. are not available, and when they do come out they are going to be expensive. And really only benefit transfer speeds so it wont do much for gaming.

I agree with the thoughts on the motherboard. You could also spend less on a full tower case from another company. Put the money from that into a higher end power supply.

What do you plan on throwing it around or kicking it when you get lead damage and have to respawn. Buy what you want, it's your cash is what I say. I prefer a great case for using more than 1 build in it. I like lights an cool big quiet fans with great airflow. USB ports in front or side close to me. Of course a lighted keyboard an mouse is great also. A couple monitors side by side in the dark with all them cool lights is what I ordered. Last case had a big side window and I installed a tube light in bottom that flashed with noise. Looked cool but really bothered me when I was gaming though. That is why It is sold to somebody else. lol

Radeon 290 is a good video card, that is what I use. Just purchase the fastest AMD 8 core you can get and forget them high pricey Intel and have fun.

750 should be good for that setup, and should have power left over. i run a x760 in my system, it handled two radeon 7970's and a nicely oc'd i5.
