Network Connectivity & Video Card recommendation

For the last several weeks I have all kind of connectivity issues with any of the P&F game servers or for that matter the internet in general. I have spent hours on the phone with the isp provider (centrylink) to no avail. But today i had a bluescreen and discovered one over my ATI cards was over heating.

My question is with my video card reaching 80 deg C could that cause problems with my onboard nic and currupt my packets and crash my network. WHen I am gaming and having connectivity issues it is not just on my pc it is with any pc on the network. I really don't want to speed money on a new vedio card and still not be able to play my MP games.

I am looking at an ATI 5830 card. Anyone out there running one or two of these cards?

Running 5850 and having no issues.   You might try going into your Catalyst Control Panel (ATI) and manually setting the fan up to 100%.  It is the bottom option ATI Over-drive in the CCC.

BSOD could be from a lot of things, check out your crash dump and see what it says. As for the NIC acting up, that could also be tons of things. The best way to deduce the problem is to do a tracert in CMD to the game server and see what your hops are like. If the pings are only spiractic on a certain hop theirs nothing you can do. You can only hope that they fix the issue soon. Basically it means theirs a problem on the backbone and your isp cant do anything for you. ( except complain to get it fixed just like you are to them ;P )

Your fan is running at 100% and it still reaches 80 C. There is something wrong there. My ATI runs at 80 C but the fan is at 23 % when I push it up to 30 % it drops below 60 C. There could be a problem with your modem or router concerning network .

If you have an available PCI slot I have a 3com 905btx 10/100 you can have.  PM me if you need it.  I have been running the 5850 for a few months now and really like it.  Is it DSL or Cable?  Do you have it connected pc to modem or pc to router to modem?

I have tried both ethernet ports on the MB. the network problems happen on every pc on my lan. I have finally got my problem elevated up to the network engineer level with my dsl provider. Hopefully they  will figure out what the problems is or they could just blow it off  and do nothing. Time will tell,

As for as the hot video card Asus tech told me anything above 85 deg c is cause for concern. they replaced the card once already and replaced with a card underclocked 500 so i will be in the market for a new card as soon as I can scrap up the money.
