Cave, what are the specs of the RAM??  This will help find a mobo that works optimally with your cpu or are you wanting to buy a new cpu too?

Memory type:  DDR2 533/667/800/1200MHz SLI-Ready memory

DDR2 is pretty cheap these days.  You have acouple of option but you have to do a few things first.  Since you have 4gb ram right now I am guess you have a 32 bit OS.  If you want to run more then 4gb ram you need to upgrade your OS to a 64 bit.

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E8400 3GHz 1333mhz 6MB LGA775 CPU is a pretty good cpu.

Bottom line, either you can do some bolt-ons and give it alittle more power or do a brand new overhaul.  You have a great system, but sadly theres not much you can do.

Thanks Silent_Wolf

I am looking for new CPU/Mobo/Ram.   Do not want to spend too much money but looking for something that would be an upgrade.

I am doing the same with my refund. This is the current config I am looking at getting. Chose this mb so if I eventually want to go to a i7 I can.

ASUS P7H57D-V EVO LGA 1156 Intel H57 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80605I5760
CORSAIR XMS 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMX8GX3M2A1600C9

I like ASUS and corsair but this for the money I am willing to spend allows me a lot of latitude for future upgrades.

Intel Core i760

Any thoughts? I really appreciate your help.

Just did a quick look at it tonight but one thing I did notice is the memory is limited to 1600Mhz only. So if you have something else or plan on getting new memory at some point it would have to be that type.  Keep in mind in the future the sata are going to 6g/s and the usb are pushing toward 3g/s. This mb doesnt have or support that. Now it is likely gonna be a few years before that is the standard but you might want to keep that in mind for future upgrades.

Opinions on the EVGA X58 SLi3 MOBO.  It is on sale at Frys.

Don't know anything about that exact board, but my EVGA MOBO is great. I have the EVGA X58 SLI Classified and, other than the price, I love everything about it.

I have never used EVGA but looks good. Do you already have the i7? Looks like that is the only one it takes. Those little puppies are expensive, why I am going with the i5 at the moment at least til the i7's come down some.

Nevermind about the i7 looked back a couple of posts and saw you were getting one.
