First just let me say thank-you for your time and input.

I had posted this elsewhere but would like to possibly get a few more opinions.

I would like to upgrade my pc and don't know what to go with as the people I've been gaming with lately seem to have much more knowledge than myself with hardware because I simply don't know a lot but anyways...

I'm currently running:

- cpu- intel duo core 2.33
- motherboard-nforce 650i ultra
- 4gigs DDR2 ram
- soundblaster audigy 24bit
- Coolermaster Centurion 5 case (CACT05) ATX Mid-Tower
- PSU- Coolermaster 700watt
- gpu- nvidia gtx 460 1gig
- monitor KDS 22" widescreen 1690x150

The PSU and GPU are both new. From what little I know I'm thinking for sure a new CPU and probably motherboard after that which I'm suspecting would lead to new ram. DDr3 I'm assuming but don't know if that is necessary.
I'm starting out with $1,000 and go from there.

So gentlemen, What do you suggest I add, change or replace? Right now I'm looking at a,

I 7 2600k and a Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3 and no clue what ram to get other than 8 gigs I'm assuming.

The I 7 is a great CPU if you can afford it I prefer ASUS mother board but that just me. I just updated from a AMD 2 core with just 4 Gigs of ram to a AMD 6 core with 8 Gig of ddr3 and can not believe the improvement. Look in to G Skill for your Ram great price and they work great, does the setup your looking at support 3 channel DDR 3?

The i7-2600k is a great cpu. I'm currently using one in my newest build. It overclocks very nicely (4.944ghz in my build) with an aftermarket cooler. If you're into that.

Like Stingray, I prefer Asus boards, although I've never had anymore trouble with one brand over the other in any of my builds. I would look at the ASUS P8P67 Pro. With the UEFI bios & ASUS's AI Suite II setup, tweaking & overclocking are a breeze.

In terms of RAM. Whatever you get, make sure it is name brand & don't get any less than 8gig of DDR3 if you can afford it.

Yes it is DDR3 and sounds like I should go with 8gigs, ok.
Must be a good choice because that G. Skill is exactly what I was looking at along with Patriot ram I looked at too.
I feel now I should definitely go with an I7 and will consider the Asus and look more into it.

If it were me I would wait till Ivy Bridge comes out this year. It will be much better the Sandy Bridge. Plus it is suppose to be 8 cores.

Mushkin ram is alot better then Patriot and G Skill.  Look for the Radiation series, or the Red Line series, I'd suggest the Radiation series,  won't be dissapointed.
