Battlefield 3 will not be on steam?

You say hello, EA says goodbye, or maybe just "take that, Valve." The Battlefield 3 publisher put up a list of digital distributors set to sell its modern-military first-person shooter at launch this October, and guess who wasn't included.

Or maybe leaving Steam off the page was just an oversight. The page (noticed by Joystiq) is currently throwing up a 404 error.

But assuming the snub was intentional, it probably has to do with the recent EA/Valve kerfuffle between EA's dossier of digitally sold games and Steam's terms and conditions. That whole mess hit the public airwaves when sci-fi shooter Crysis 2 inexplicably disappeared from Steam mid-June. Everyone assumed EA yanked the game, until EA said it hadn't.

"It's unfortunate that Steam has removed Crysis 2 from their service," said EA in a statement at the time. "This was not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA."

I'm very sad by this as I buy all my games now on steam. I was not a fan of steam when it first came out but they have won me over. I hope EA changes their mind on this and brings it back to Steam.

EA will not change their mind they have decided a few months ago to remove all of their games from steam and other provider of the same to promulgate their own providing system used to be called EA downloader  now call Origine ! I have always bought all my EA games from EA Downloader (Origine) and have had a really great experience and i recommend it to every one.

I've used the EA down loader as well and it works fine. I still would rather have all my games in one program though. I to have a hefty list of games and friend network on Steam. I, like Luke, would like to keep it that way.  I guess it's a good thing I have waited to pre-order the game.

Steam is less problematic now than it was before.  However, I do not like a requirement to install a program like Steam on my PC in order to play a game.  I do not like it Sam I Am.
