I just got an X79 platform (but got the Asus SABERTOOTH X79).

As for CPU, if you want 6 core, the 3930k ($500+), if you think quad core is still enough like I do, then the 3820 ($280)

For RAM, get enough to have a 4GB ram cache per disk. (For my single SSD it's 16GB - 4GB, leaving 12GB for system ram). This gives me 4500 MB/Sec for recently/frequently accessed files, where the SSD alone will do 460 MB/Sec).

Here is my WEI on default clock speed (3.6hz, it can clock to 4.6ghz).

Honestly if you have really good case flow it wont make all that much difference, but it does allow air to flow under it funneling it towards the exhaust.

The armor on the Sabertooth is just there for looks...it really doesn't do anything for cooling.  If you want good cooling for the motherboard you have to get a Swiftech or EK motherboard waterblock and do custom water loop.

Oh and the Asus Rampage IV Extreme Battlefield 3 edition is just the board with a copy of BF3.  It will be cheaper to go with just the Rampage IV Extreme.

Parts I would recommend for your build since your going top of the line:

Ram:
G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (8 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133Mhz

Powersupply:
Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-1375M 1375W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153155

CPU:
ntel Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 130W Six-Core Desktop Processor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116492

Graphics cards:
ASUS HD7950-DC2T-3GD5 Radeon HD 7950 3GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121489

Solid state drives:
Corsair Force GT 120GB Sata III 6.0GB/s
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233191

Case:
SILVERSTONE RAVEN RV01

Or
NZXT Switch 810

Or
AeroCool Shark 140mm Red

CPU cooler:
ZALMAN CNPS12X
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118097
Or
CORSAIR H80
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181016
Or
CORSAIR H100
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181017

If you will be overclocking your CPU go with this:

XSPC Rasa RX360 Extreme

OS:
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (for use of more than 16GB RAM)
Note 1

Now remember this is some of what I would recommend in my professional opinion!
Any questions about anything feel free to message me here or chat on TS.

Note 1:  Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit is limited to no more than 16GB ram usage this means if you have more than 16GB and want to use it you have to have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate 64-bit.

All depends on budget, if you haven't got that much I would downgrade that CPU.

CPU:
Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E 3.6GHz (3.9GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 2011 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115229

Saving - $280
What you lose - 2 cores, from 6 to 4, 2 MB L3 Cache, from 12MB to 10MB (still more than regular SB)

That $280 saving would go a long way towards GPU.

Also, the H100 is fine for overclocking if you have sufficient case cooling too. I stress tested the 3820 at 4 GHZ and it didn't break 50C (triple fan push pull on the rad)

As for case fans, I recommend the Noctua ones. They may not be as pretty but they are remarkably quiet due to the blade design and bearing:

Noctua NF-S12B FLX 120mm, 3 Speed Setting, Beveled Blade Tips Design, SSO Bearing Fan
