What joysticks work with BF3 for flying?

Many use the "Logitech Extreme 3D Pro", and it's under 30 bucks. My friend has one and it has held up pretty well.

Thanks, I just ordered one on Ebay...$22. We'll see if my flying improves now.  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

That is what I use and works great. Also look up my post on how to set it up so there are no conflicts.

You really don't need a joystick to fly better. I found it even more difficult to aim with it. Let me give you some advice Smile
1. I think this one is the most important. Air radar. When you fly with the radar you spend more time looking at the mini map. You can easily predict the moves of enemy jets that are trying to shoot you or if you are trying to shoot them.
2. Don't press shift while turning off. You can also read this during the map loading Smile
3. If you fly low above the ground you disappear from enemy radars.
4. Use objects like mountines to avoid missiles that are locked on you.

good trick is to bind Space to nose up, lets you manuever without moving your mouse and losing aim etc.

Have you tried changing mouse axis? I think that in defoult settings when you pull the mouse up the jet goes down and vice versa. For me it's way better to pull the mouse up when my jet goes up either. That's how it worked in bf2.

Ok, so I got my JS and hooked it up. It seems that BF3 doesn't recognize it. I tried every tip I could find and still nothing. Is there an "enable joystick" or something I missed. The game won't even let me assign any keys to the joystick column.  Sad   Sad  Sad

I used to use a joystick, but now I just use my mouse..   still getting used to it since the mouse can only do whatever you assign it to, but you're limited to 2 axis..   you still need a 3rd one for yaw, and I use A and D for that...   I just find an empty server and play around to get used to it

Perhaps something in THIS THREAD can help you.

Yeah, I read that thread through and again just now to see if I missed something, still nothing. I know the JS is working since I calibrated it through windows. I tried using it with and without the Logitech software as well.

Make sure you unassign keys that you dont use in the air category in the joystick section. They will conflict with the others if you dont. In fact if I didnt use that "action" on my joystick I removed it. So there are only the ones I actually use in the joystck/controller section of BF3 in all the settings sections. You can leave the keyboard and mouse alone but you need to remove the others. Let me know if it is still not working and I will take screen shots of my setup and post it so you can see how I have it setup. If you do it right you dont even have to run the logitech program and it will work. I dont use it anymore and mine works fine.

It's weird, I cleared all the commands for KB/M so now when you get into an aircraft, there are the prompts that tell you what keys to use, but now there is no key associated if you know what I mean. It doesn't show any of the keys that are bound for the JS.
