Hi all,
I just started playing WaW...downloaded it from Steam. When I try to change the resolution in the multiplayer ONLY I get the error "unhandled exception caught" error and it crashes back to Steam. It works in MP if I don't change the resolution, and it works fine in solo if I change the resolution to whatever (my native 1920x1080) I did some research
and it appears there were/are all sorts of problems with WaW. Any suggestions? I already updated Direct X and my vid drivers. Please help the new guy!

Hm I think the game is trying to use a refresh rate that your display can't handle, since some displays will use higher refresh rates at low resolutions.Trying changing refresh and resolution in your config_mp.cfg manually. Find it in \Users\[username]\Appdata\Local\Activision\COD\CodWaW\players\Profiles\]playername]\ (or something like that). Within, you can find the "refresh" and "resolution" lines. use "60" for refresh, and your desired resolution (eg. "1920x1080").
Won;t hurt to try a "Verify Game Files" through Steam. In your Steam Library, right-click the game, select Properties, hit the Local Files tab, and click the button to verify game files. It'll check to make sure you have all the correct fiels, and download any that are missing or corrupt.
the lines you want to edit thsoe to look like this:
seta r_mode "1920x1080"
seta r_displayRefresh "60 Hz"
As always, back up the file before editing it, just in case.

Ah good. Yes... "try".
Can't recall if W@W has an in-game refresh rate setting, but you can see if it'll do anything higher than 60hz. Though with non-CRT displays, it only really makes a difference if you have Vsync on.

I popped in last night and had the exact same thing happen on a previously perfect installation. I suspect mine may be caused by an overlay though. I will fiddle with it later.
