Hey Guys,
I have true 5.1 headsets. And when I go to set up W@W, it tells me that in order to change to 5.1 instead of the default, I need to go into windows and change it there. I have absolutely no idea what their talking about. I have everything set to 5.1...Can someone please help me out and what I need to do??

Thank You.

Go to the speaker Icon in the sys tray right click. In the dialog box under the playback tab right click on your speaker and select configure. Insure the headphones are set to the default device. You will need to restart WaW.

Thats all I have for support

OK, I did what you said to do. But it was already configured to 5.1. What it tells me on setting in the game is I need to configure it in windows.........Suggestions??

If it's set to 5.1 in Windows and that device is set as default, that should be all you have to do....  hmmm. if you use 3rd party audio drivers and/.or software, be sure to check that, too.

FYI - My W@W says "Speakers 5.1". I had to set nothing in-game.

Did you set the headset to default and disable the other speaker options? I had to do that to make mine work.

I don't quite understand what your saying......Are you meaning in my "Control Panel"??

On your 'Playback'  tab on 'Sound'. get it it by clicking Control Panel - Sound, or right-click speaker icon in systray - click Payback Devices.

It'll show your playback devices. make sure the one you want to use is set is Default. Once it is, right-click - Configure Speakers. Select 5.1. Some headsets show as individual devi es, liek many that use USB for more than pwoer, some others (lie mine) are seen as Speakers by Windows.

As I said above, you could also have 3rd party audio software installed, that have setting separate from Windows. Though any software worth its' salt will exchange those basic settings with your Windows Control Panel Soudn settings so ther eis never a conflict.

I guess this should've been asked already: What is  your specific audio device and headset model? Also, does you 5.1 work in other games or when watching movies?

That is very odd.

So in your games' 'Sound' screen, what does it say beside "Speaker Config"? Default? 2.0? If it says Default, I'd wager it's already using 5.1, since that is how your OS is set.

Maybe have a looksee at the Steam forums. If you ahve the Steam version, do a File Verification..

Oh, you are patched to 1.7, right? I know 1.7 isn't required for Multiplayer, but perhaps there's a fix for audio in 1.7.

Well I just ran the Verification Files on steam, and it looks like 3 files were corrupt. I'll install it again and see where I can go from there.

OK, I reinstalled the game once again. But before I launch it I wanted to ask you this question.......I usually open up punk buster and then pick the game and update it from there...Is that a Good idea or not??

For Steam edition, I've never had to touch Punkbuster. Though, I did already have BF3 installed....

But updating it won't hurt.

EDIT: that got me to thinking about it. I just opened my only pbsetup.exe and it doesn't even list it as installed for W@W, but I play it just fine. i Guess it's included with the Steam install?
