Okay I feel I'm pretty well-versed in the ways of hardware. All my builds, this is the first time I've had to reach out for ideas:
Opened my HTPC to slap another HDD in there. Took out teh HDD cage, put the drive in, plugged it in, put it back together, hit power button and ... nothing. Not a thing.
Cleared CMOS with pin and battery methods.
all plugs are in and secured.
power switch panel cable is connected properly.
PSU cables are all snug, on both ends.
RAM si still seated properly.
no bulging or fried capacitors o the motherbaord
unplugged new HDD from power and sata.
Still nothing. No fans spin. None of the mobo LEDs go on at all.
Far as i can see, the PSU is till in fine shape. no smells, no odd sounds, everything has been peachy-keen before this.
Any ideas?
Specs:
Q9550 CPU
DFI P35-T2RL motherboard
XFX 5870 1gb GPU
4x1gb DDR2 800mhz RAM - timings and voltage at spec
1x2tb, 1x1tb, 1x500gb (the new one) hardrives.
OCZ 550w modular PSU
All my temperatures have been good. I've been running a clock of 2.4ghz for about 6 years now, and it's always been stable and cool.
Luckily, this is not my desktop or laptop. But now I ahve 300 episdoes and 400 movies I cannot watch from the comfort of my sofa.
