I have a nice Dell XPS system with an i7 and 12gb ram but I lack in the graphics card to play the newer games. Is there any suggestions of what to get for not alot of cash? I don't want to spend more than $200 and that's the top top.

Just wait for holiday sales,  and get whichever  had the highest original price. AMD/nvidia doesn't really matter,  just make sure to get something from their newest series.

And name site you have a suitable power supply.  600w from a good brand name will  do.

Would a R9 270X GDDR5-2GB 2xDVI/HDMI/DP OC Graphics Card work good? I can get it on Amazon for $168.00
I already have 12gb RAM so I don't think I need the 4gb dedicated right?

Video  card RAM is mostly used for texturea,  and is used differently than system RAM. Though i wouldn't go any lower than 3gb on your card

But yes,  that is a fine card.  Although ,  if you can wait a few weeka,  I'm sure  you'll get  a better deal.  Pretty sure the r280 or r280x is currently under $200, and is a big increase in performance.
