I'm also hearing the two lists of accounts that were released are just the tip of the ice burg.  So yeah, change those passwords.

They have finally released a statement.  It's a partial lie since it was already proven to be a breach of their own servers, but at least it is something.

We are aware that unauthorized attempts have been made to access Rockstar Games Social Club accounts using email and password combinations sourced from unaffiliated, compromised websites or databases elsewhere on the internet. For the accounts affected, we are in the process of reverting those accounts back to their original owners. As a result, the ability to change email addresses for Social Club accounts has been temporarily disabled. See the following Rockstar Support article for more information here. As a reminder, it is a good policy to ensure that the Rockstar Games Social Club account username and password is not shared across multiple websites on the internet. For accounts affected with this issue, we are working to respond to customers to reinstate full user access within 24 hours of contacting Customer Support. So I submitted another ticket asking for help.  I asked that all replies to the ticket be sent to my correct email and this was what they said.

We can help with this, but just need to verify that you are the owner of the email address you are using to submit this request. Please confirm that you are the owner of this email address by clicking “reply” from your email program and letting us know that you own this email address.

Note This reply would need to be via email, and not by logging into the Support site and updating your ticket, for us to verify your email address.

As soon as we have this verification, we will investigate your account and get back to you as soon as possible with a resolution.

I am still logged in to the hacked account so all replies automatically go to the wrong email.  So stupid.

Finally.  I had to log into two different Social Club Accounts and two different email accounts across three browsers to prove I was who I said I was and just like that I have my account back.  What a hassle.

I play whenever I get the chance.  These days this is my only game.  With a newborn and a job requiring me to work 9-14 hour days 6-7 days a week though my time is sporadic at best.
