I just wanted to say thanks to all who helped me combat my system overheating problem. Although I have not been able to test in game yet, I was able to replace both the CPU fan/heatsink and clean out the system. My machine is running very cool now and I appreciate everyone kicking in the suggestions.

Cheers!

Just a homegrown tip I found to be fairly useful.  When you open up your case and your heatsink is jammed full of gunk, before you whip out the can of compressed air,  get yourself a toothpick and work at removing the junk from the slots.  It will get more stuff out than air alone.
