I have been having problems with my old headset and it went out a week or so ago. So i got this beast.

Its a Plantronic's A 770 virtual surround sound headset.

I wasn't sure if Plantronic's was the way to go. But seeing that Best Buy in MN doesn't sell that many different brands of headset in my area it was almost my only choice. especially for a surround sound headset.

Short and sweet rating. 8/10

Pros:
-VERY light weight
-Very comfortable
-GREAT sound
-Overhead rest looks weird but sits nicely.
-Microfiber type side pads. This is great because fake leather usually makes your head/ears sweat or get hot and uncomfortable. Also the earphone does not rest on your ear! it rests on the side of your head and your ear goes inside the earphone.
-Digital surround sound! The surround sound lets me hear everything going on around me unless someone is talking on TS.  (the surround sound is only activated when your games sound settings are set to 5.1 surround)
-Earphones breathe so your head does not get hot.
-Long cable.
-Plug and play USB adapter.
-Doesn't squeeze your head!

Cons:
-Cable is very thin.
-Sound adjuster on the cable is very cheap feeling.
-Little noise cancellation due to the holes on the side for air circulation.
-Microphone boom has very little resistance.

I think i saw one of those at BB.  I was considering getting something like that soon.  You said great sound.  Is that great from high to mid to lows.  Also how are the bass levels on it.  Im a bass head i love the sound of bass.  Plenty of bass you think?  Or you think it might not be enough for someone like me?  how much you get them for?

the High - mid - lows is pretty good so far. Iv only played two games with this. (CoD4 and Red Orchestra) The gunshots and fade away sound is pretty good.

But for the bass it depends if your sound card lets you adjust your bass. My Creative sound card would but i had to swap it out for a generic one so i could use my mic. The generic sound card doesn't allow bass adjustment BUT still puts out a decent amount.

But the bass was good from the Creative card.

The total came to: $98.78 but that was with a two year replacement warranty. But i had reward zone coupons and a reward zone discount so i paid $84.00.

An update

Yesterday my old headset posted a few above this was broken and now replaced with the one shown above.

And since this is an updated product the pros and cons have changed.

Pros:
-VERY light weight
-GREAT sound
-Thundering Bass and max volume is beyond what your ears can take.
-Microfiber ear pads. This is great because fake leather usually makes your head/ears sweat or get hot and uncomfortable. Also the earphone does not rest on your ear! it rests on the side of your head and your ear goes inside the earphone.
-Digital surround sound! The surround sound has had an amazing update! The surround lets me hear 2x more than the last one.
-Earphones breathe so your head does not get hot.
-Plug and play USB adapter.
-Sound adjuster on the cord is built to last.
-Microphone boom is VERY good this time around.
-Very thick cable.
-USB adapter has been updated and is ALLLLLLOT more durable. it also can turn on the surround sound function by a switch on the side.
-Doesnt look as dorky as the old version lol

Cons:
-Squeezes my head a bit.
-zero noise cancellation.
-Short Cable.
-Over head rest is a little hard.

I've been using Plantronics for 7 yrs now.  And, I have no complaints.

The model I use is the Plantronics DSP 500.  It is a USB and has its own sound card.  Mind you, the headset is about 7 yrs old now, but, the sound quality is very good.

Should these go bad, I will still stay with Plantronics.  Those look very nice and the specs seem good as well.
