Just a quick recap:

The beta comes out Jan 28th.

Game mode: Rush

Environment: Snow

Back Story:
The battle for Port Valdez is fought alongside the waterline towards a great oil industrial landscape in the Alaskan mountains. Using basically everything they've got the Russian forces are launching an airborne assault to knock out the oil industries in the area. In their arsenal there are Main Battle Tanks as well as fast-moving Quad Bikes and mobile armored AA. It's a vehicle focused battle, but with plenty of infantry combat.

The beta will be running PunkBuster.

I cant wait to get it!

Keep in mind gamestop said if you order for store pickup no beta for you. You have to have it delivered somewhere other then the store

Luke I realize the beta is downloaded and of course it will be downloaded. I was referring to taking receipt of the game.

But there web page when I ordered said "You would not get the beta key if you ordered delivered to the store".  That is a fact.

It may have changed since then. Something for people to verify. Your word is good with me. The store employee that's a different story all together. If the gametsop employe drone's mouths is moving......... I'm telling you what the gamestop web page said when I ordered it about 3 weeks ago.

I would have preferred to drive a block away and get it from the store immedietly on release. But there was a reason I paid for next day shipping to my house. I believe Bull verified what I said and changed his store delivery to home of the game so that he and I would get a beta key.

I believe Luke is correct, I just returned from GameStop and was advised that I would be contacted via-EM when the beta is launched. I pre-ordered the full game for pick-up in the store scheduled for March 2nd.

I don't know how long ago Nematode ordered his copy, but that is the "scoop" as of today...in Chicago!

I just called a contact at gamestop and was told:

As of Monday EA contacted game stop and set up a rule that only on line orders will get the beta key. Anything that was announced in the stores before today is incorrect not by gamestops actions but by the decision made at EA. Anything you where told before in store or on the phone has been changed by EA now.

I was also told that EA is the only ones who decide who will get the beta key.

Pulled one second ago from gamestop game ordering web page:

"Reserve Battlefield Bad Company 2 and receive access to the PC multiplayer beta. Beta begins January 28th, 2010 and ends February 25, 2010. Available for online customers only while supplies last. Not available for in-store or in-store pickup orders. "

That is a cut and paste. I cancelled my home delivery and now I'm simply not going to order it until gamestop gets there act together. I can only go by what is on there web page. I am not going by some clerks interpretation ahat direct;y contradicts what is on there corporate web pages.

When you pre-order online do you get a physical copy or just a digital download, because I'm not really a fan of having the digital versions, I like something tangible. Anyways I probably won't pre-order it, I never did any of their last games and if you register to their website you usually get one anyways near the end of the beta, which is what happened the last few times they held closed betas.
