Alright, I turned on my computer this morning, and all of a sudden it doesn't recognise my headset plugged in the front. I have a realtek audio manager which I use to switch between my headset, and my speakers. When I open that manager, the headset isn't even listed. Also, when I turn on teamspeak, both the speakers and the headset work, but the sound is cruddy and muffled and sinister said the same thing about my mic. I'm running windows vista by the way.

The only things that have changed since last night would be the fact that I installed a new windows update, and my dad got rid of a virus on my internet explorer last night, but it was working completely fine after that.

What was the update?  Microsoft has a history of breaking things with their updates.

Disable front panel jack detection in Realtek Audio Manager and that will give you sound on the front panel.

or disable the front and plug into rear and setup properties and configuration of speakers and recording (microphone).

Also, sound cards are cheap and can sometimes make the setup easier if you're having troubles.

Ok here's a screenshot of my audio manager. There should be an extra tab on there that says headset or whatever, but ever since this morning, it hasn't been there. I've restarted even. And of course there's still the audio distortion that I've been getting on teamspeak. My headset gives me sound, even though it doesn't register it on the audio manager. Could it be a problem with my sound card on the mobo?

Hmm the fact that your at least getting sound means that the headset is working; ( btw is it analog or usb? that makes a HUGE difference lol )

I would go to realtek.com but there site/downloads are GOD AWFUL

Id update them; For some reason windows update likes to install non-compatible or really old drivers :)

Also try a self check ( go into teamspeak and go to settings/options/capture/ and at the bottom there is a voice test test to make sure you sound good on there;) if you do, then theirs something wrong with your ability to use Voip. ( check your internet )

Thanks WannaB. It's an analog headset. (I'm assuming that's the only other kind than usb, cause it definetely isn't usb) I'll try those drivers, and see if it works.

Alright tried that but the drivers would not install. It gave me a message saying "no driver was supported in this driver package"

Thanks for your help guys. I got it fixed. Just needed to tweak some settings that had been changed somehow. (most likely the windows update.)
