Hey guys, last night while i was playing my computer crashed, it was like i had a power outage, when i turned my head to my pc i saw a spark coming from the outlet, after that my computer along with every electronic plugged to that outlet (i have a surge protector with all my pc related peripherals connected to it) went dead, then a half a second later, my tv/monitor and my phone came back to live but my cable box, and my computer are just dead. it was very late to do any checking (plus my tv its fixed to the wall and i have to move everything to get to the cables running from the pc to all the peripherals. so as of right now i am very worried of getting my pc back to life. i have no idea what could have caused that, and its the 1st time this happens.
what i have to check its if the cable box and the computer work in another wall outlet, if not i have to see if the power supply in the pc its gone. or if it has some kind of circuit breaker inside or a fuse that i can change, the cable box i dont care cause i can return it and get a new one at the company.

i still get emails on my phoen so if you have any suggestion or a how-to for this kind of cases i will be very thankful if you can help me.

my email is leoojeda {at} hotmail{.} com

thanks.

Lion

if your PC is toast call your housing insurance and see what they will do. if you have a surge protector they all have an amount they will reimburse you for if the product fails and your pc, tv etc. is destroyed.

ok guys good news, i replaced my 500w sli PSU with my old 350W from my old dell and the pc its working again, the PSU its dead, so i will get a new one in a near future, i have no idea if running with less wattage will cause anything. also i am getting a new power protector, cause i have the feeling that with a good one this wouldnt have happened.

If you have any good ideas where to get a new one preferably under $100 it will help a lot. Right now i am looking at ebay and newegg

lion running a computer on a lower watt psu should be ok for short term as long as you don't work it too hard as this can cause parts to over heat, because the fan doesn't get the necessary power its doesn't pull the heat away fast enough, also devices like you graphics card can pull the majority of the power away from other devices like sound card, motherboard, etc which will basically turn these off

your 350 watt may not have the power to run the game.

if i remember correctly if you have a nvidia graphics card when you boot the pc it says that there isn't enought power and is going to run in economy mode and i think viper is right about not having enough power to run the game
