Here you can find a fix for 10.5 version of ATI driver. It fixes long load times on 2xxx, 3xxx, and 4xxx series cards. Tested on 4870 on win 7 64 bit and it works.

Wonder if it would work on XP as well? Cause my HD4850X2 suffers from that.. but I'm not about to upgrade to Win7 just to hope this will work. Smile

AMD owns ATI does not matter which proc you have. Only requirement is to have an ATI of the stated series.

IT really bothers me that ATI's performance comes more from their drivers then their cards.  Their cards have so much in them and they do so much work with them.  I wish they would just let the hard do what its going to do and let the drivers just manage the hardware.  Sorry, thats my two cents and I fight with ATI everyday about this.

-N30N- you can install and try. It only takes few minutes. If it's not working you can always  go  back to the previous version.  It should work on XP too because the problem is not in the operating system.

Thanks Red Dragon for the post it makes a huge difference
(Ya I realised after I made the post and looked closer at the web site that AMD must own ATI thats what happens when you look at something too quickly at 11:00pm)

Thanks again Reddragon

I installed it, and didn't seem to really help me much. seems to take for ever. I used to run an Nvidia Card and switched to the X2 card in CrossFire, and now seems to kill the load times.

oh well, still fun!

The link I posted is for a single card setup. I think there is a separate one for dual card.
