It should also be noted that steams "auto repair" features are very good. for example, after the patch i was getting an error with C++ closing out multiplayer and Steam. asked steam to autorepair it, took about 2 seconds.
another easy fix for many game bugs is to ask steam to verify game files. right-click game->properties->Local files->verify integrity of game cache. a defrag of game files would not go amiss either.

These are fixes for errors before the browser patch was released, they may/may not help if your are experiencing new problems since the patch like me, although these fixes to delay the frequency in which my game would freeze

Yeah,
First of all I hadnt been aware that there are i.p's that range to
1435..and im not sure if anyone else is having issues with the
server list populating.

The server list problem is back today. Yesterday it was working great but its down again today.
