Yes the game resets some stuff when it loads.  However I had it running in read only for a while, didn't seem to do much except I couldn't rename any of my kits.  Wouldn't hurt to test it out.

A full system restore is definitely a last ditch effort to fix the issues.  I am certain the problem was still with BO, and it caused issues elsewhere.

PD Blue you should also know that you don't need a third party firewall installed.  Windows 7 firewall is on by default.  Also, if you are running through a router that has a built in firewall as well.  Personally I really don't think people need any type of firewall on newer operating systems as long as they have a decent AV installed.  The computer sitting to the right of me has Windows firewall disabled and is in DMZ mode.  It has Avast free edition running and I have zero problems.  As long as you keep Windows up to date the odds of something happening are nearly zero.  As long as you aren't downloading things you possibly shouldn't be or with obvious names like britney_spears_naked.jpg.exe you won't have any issues.

Yeah - I think some are reset or don't stick. I noticed a couple of changes I made yesterday weren't there when I connected today. I'm sure the 'server' knows best!

Ok, tested snd_klz setting at 22...didnt hurt.... so far in 8 hours only locked up once(saved cfg as read/write and settings didnt revert  on restarting game)

As for other performance from puter... i never had problem other that freezing from last patch

Some people have reported better performance after jacking all their settings to max.  Either in their video card control panel or in game.  I dunno.  I also see a lot of people with cards like the 460-480 series barely pulling 50-60 FPS.  Though that could be because they have vsync on.  I have vsync off and have maxed around 160-ish FPS on an ati 5830.

you have big boy card... i have  HD 4670.... doesnt have fantastic performance but i get by
